Coffee with roasted figs
Roasted Figs are used as an ingredient as a coffee substitute or a roast coffee additive. From about the end of the 19th century fig started to come into use a substitute in southern Germany. The Coffee/Fig mixture is often called 'Viennese Coffee'. The flavour of roasted figs is specific due to their high sugar content they are still sweet but at the same time perhaps as a result of caramelisation slightly bitter. Add around 15% to coffee thicken and sweeten.
